Earlier this week President Michael D Higgins apologised to refugees who have experienced prejudice and stereotyping here saying it deeply saddens him. He said asylum seekers have not always been met by hospitality in Ireland.

To discuss the direct provision system in Ireland and the experience's people have in direct provision, Susan speaks to Shane O'Tuathaigh, author of 'Outlanders: Stories of the Displaced'.
