Cycling is the most common activity leading to referral to Beaumont Hospital’s national centre for treating traumatic brain injury . According to a new study, of 26 patients with cycling-related head injuries who were transferred to the unit -  only two were recorded as wearing a helmet . We asked Martina Callanan - member of Cyclist.ie and deputy chair of the Galway Cycling Campaign for reaction and whether the figures add merit to the argument for mandatory helmets.
