48 years ago, the Voyager 1 probe was launched into space, and is still travelling. Later this month, it will reach a distance of one light day away from Earth, which equals roughly 26 billion kilometers. Of all the craft launched into space, it is the furthest away one, and carries information about humanity and our planet in case any other life comes across it.
Peter Gallagher, Director of Dunsink Observatory at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and former employee of NASA joins Seán to discuss this accomplishment.
