If you’ve been following the US Presidential election over the last few weeks, you will have noticed a lot of analysts putting a huge emphasis on polling. 

It comes off the back of a recent poll in Ireland, which put Fine Gael back as the most popular party in the country 

So, what are these opinion polls, and how are they carried out?
