An Instagram account has caused a backlash online over the weekend after it advertised hosting a St Patrick’s Day rave somewhere in Dublin or Kildare.

The bio of the account reads: ‘Paddy's Day lockdown rave in the Kildare/Dublin area 17 March 2021. Tickets are €20. Let's not have another miserable Paddy's Day, let's party hard.’

Gardai have said that although Government restrictions are likely to be extended through March, the current restrictions are only in place until March 5.

And, as a result, Gardai can take no action against the organisers of the rave because, at this point, there are no restrictions on gatherings past the start of March.
