The insect world is a weird and sometimes terrifying place.

Not only do insects need to battle with the environment, cross-species competition, or other creatures both big and small simply trying to eat them - they, like us, also need to contend with parasites and the potentially fatal outcomes if one gets a hold.

Dr Kelly Weinersmith, Adjunct at Rice University in the BioSciences Department joined Jonathan to discuss.

First aired February 4th 2017
