Yesterday the Irish Data protection Commissioner imposed the biggest ever fine applied by any Watchdog relating to the transfer of personal data such as your name or email address outside the EU. Meta which owns whatsapp and Facebook has been ordered to pay a whopping €1.2 billion for breaching GDPR rules and it could have big ramifications for other technology companies that gather personal data.
