Cian O'Neill's nomadic coaching career has taken him to Galway.

The Kildare native has joined Pádraic Joyce's backroom team with the Tribesmen's footballers.

O'Neill had fulfilled a similar role under Ronan McCarthy with the Cork footballers for the past two years.

Joyce is entering the third year of his tenure in charge in Galway. They lost the 2020 Connacht final by a point, but fell 0-6 short of Mayo in July.

O'Neill was in charge of Kildare between 2015 and 2019, but has been a supporting artist everywhere else.

The Moorefield man was part of Liam Sheedy's backroom team as Tipperary won the 2010 All Ireland Hurling title.

He's also worked with the Limerick footballers under Mickey Ned O'Sullivan, and has been a coach with both the Kerry and the Mayo footballers.
