Two sitting government TDs will lose their seats in Meath East - according to Newstalk Breakfast presenter Ivan Yates.

Sitting TDs: Regina Doherty (FG), Helen McEntee (FG) and Dominic Hannigan (LAB) 

The Government holds 100% of the seats in this constituency after the 2011 election, but Fianna Fáil will top the poll and Sinn Féin will take a seat this time around.

Fianna Fáil's Thomas Byrne will controversially take the first seat while Sinn Féin candidate Darren O'Rourke will take the last seat in this volatile constituency.

The forecast comes as part of Newstalk's Breakfast presenter Ivan Yates' series of election predictions. In the weeks leading up to polling day, he is calling the outcome for each of the 40 constituencies.  

Meath East

This is a three-seat constituency.

All three sitting TDs are running for re-election.

It is a commuter belt area for Dublin and voter concerns here will centre around mortgages and transport.

There are 12 candidates in the Meath East constituency.

Predicted outcome

Yates is calling the result as one for Fianna Fáil, one for Fine Gael and one for Sinn Féin.

2. Helen McEntee (FG)

3. Darren O'Rourke (SF)

Thomas Byrne will top the poll. In the McEntee by-election he won an impressive 8,000 seats. 

Sitting Labour TD Dominic Hannigan will be eliminated fairly early on in the race. Ivan Yates says he is: "Going nowhere".

Meanwhile, Fine Gael's Regina Doherty will lose out to running mate Helen McEntee because the party will not be able to hold on to two seats.

Helen McEntee (FG) and her late father and politician Shane are from the less volatile rural northern part of the constituency - she will benefit from this, narrowly taking the second seat.
