Sean Hehir from Co Clare and Pauline Curley from Co Offaly were the first Irish people to cross the finish line, with times of 2:19:47 and 2:49:29.

Sean was running for an athletics club in Rathfarnham, and today wasn't his first win:

Pauline - who is 46 and ran the women's marathon for Ireland at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 - says her age was not a barrier to her success today:

11,000 Irish athletes have been competing in today's race, while 4,500 overseas competitors have registered.

Participants began in stages from Fitzwilliam Place, and a number of road closures will be in place in the city centre throughout the day.

There are a number of road and gate closures around Phoenix Park, while Merrion Square will be closed until later this evening.

A full list of traffic details can be found on the marathon's website.

Cork athlete Sonia O'Sullivan, who won the marathon 15 years ago, has been competing again today to raise money for the Irish Guide Dogs, and spoke to Newstalk Breakfast before taking to the starting line:

Diversions are also in place for a number Dublin Bus routes throughout the morning and afternoon. You can find full details on the Dublin Bus website.
