Pictures of the Dublin Marathon cover the front pages of the Tuesday morning, as does the premiere of the new James Bond film, Spectre.

Chris went to see the film yesterday and went into some detail about just why exactly he’s such a big fan. Ivan wasn’t keen on the idea at all though, and speculated it was a carbon copy of every other James Bond film he’s seen, which led the two to debate the merits of the James Bond franchise, and the entertainment value of Manchester City.

The Irish Times leads with two main stories this morning. The first is that the HSE is to review hospital diets after the recent WHO report linking bowel cancer to processed and red meat; and the second the report that Sinn Féin’s plans to sign up to a broad left-wing voting pact.

The Irish Independent leads with the story that that Environment Minister Alan Kelly turned down a deal in the Budget that would have benefited lower income families who are renting because it didn’t include rent freeze.

The Irish Examiner splits their attentions between Spectre and the news that Donal óg Cusack, former Cork hurler, has signed up to the Clare hurling coaching panel for 2015. The Examiner also reports that local authorities are to be given new powers to deal with problem tenants.

In the tabloids, The Herald leads with a plea from the family of missing Irishwoman Elizabeth Clarke, who was last seen in Navan in November 2013.

The Mirror reports on an Irishman allegedly arrested in a Thailand drugs sting.

The Mail carries a story warning that the hiring freeze in An Garda Síochána in recent years is to lead to a major staffing problem due to retirements in the future.

Inside the papers Ivan was interested in the news that Michael D. Higgins has refused to rule out running for a second term as president, while Chris brought us a stomach turning story about hot-dogs and what’s reportedly in one in 50 of them.
