Talks at the Workplace Relations Commission between management and workers at the Luas have ended for the weekend.

Operator Transdev and Unions had been locked in talks throughout today - however they are set to return to the table on Monday morning.

Drivers who make up 170 of the company's 250 staff however remain outside the process.

Transdev had already announced plans to provide buses on St Patrick's day saying it's a family occasion - with several more days of strike action planned for later this month and next.

Transdev says it will run shuttle services from Luas Park and Ride Stops into the city centre.

Industrial action by drivers has already been announced for St Patrick's Day, as well as Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Yesterday, SIPTU also announced further 48-hour strikes on April 2nd, 3rd, 23rd and 24th.

Luas drivers have reduced their pay claim from 53% over five years, to between 27% and 30%.

Yesterday, Transdev said the strike plans were 'disrespectful to the public'.

This morning, Managing Director Gerry Madden told Newstalk's Breakfast that drivers, specifically, must modify their claim further.

He said the drivers' pay claim is unrealistic, given their workload.

"When they come back into a reasonable space with their claim...in the same line as the other three grades. They know exactly what the other three grades have applied for":

Shuttle bus services

Transdev says its special shuttle services will run ever ten minutes, from 7.30am to 7.00pm on St Patrick's Day.

Luas pre-paid tickets (7 Day, 30 Day, Monthly & Annual) and Leap Cards, including Family Leap Cards, will be accepted on this bus service.

Bus tickets can also be purchased at Luas Park and Ride Stops, and at city centre Luas/bus stops.

Passengers intending on using the Special Bus Service should allow extra time to travel - especially if planning to attend the parade in the city centre.
