The Government is launching its action plan for the Mid West region this morning, targeting job creation across North Tipperary, Clare and Limerick.

The plan is aimed at delivering 10 to 15% employment growth in the region by 2020.

It will create 23,000 new jobs through investment in tourism, aviation, manufacturing and agriculture.

The plan will officially be launched in Limerick later today by the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton.

It is the fourth of eight regional jobs plans to be published as part of a new €250m regional jobs strategy.

The ambition is to see every region realise its potential for jobs and enterprise growth.

A target of increasing the number of regional startups by 25% forms a key plank of the plan.

There is also a commitment to strengthening the aviation, lifesciences, engineering and internationally traded services sectors already established in the area.

Specifically, the Department of Jobs and Enterprise would like to see an increase in the value of agri-food exports by 85% by 2025.

Minister Bruton told Newstalk Breakfast the Mid West is performing well when it comes to attracting businesses.
