Two men arrested during evictions from an illegal halting site in Dundalk have been released.
Seven families who had previously been evicted from the Woodland Park halting site were moved on from the same location by gardaí this morning.
Gardaí said earlier that two men were detained for obstructing the process and taken to Dundalk Garda Station. The force said a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution.
Rebecca Quinn from the Dundalk Travellers Group told Newstalk Breakfast that a number of caravans were seized today, and that gardaí did not allow anybody on site to move the remaining caravans.
Today's seizures and arrests came after a signed notice was presented to the group yesterday afternoon.
Ms Quinn told this station that five families had already moved on last night out of fears of potential seizures this morning.
"The council hasn't been in touch," she said. "I tried contacting [them] yesterday to try and notify them, but of course they weren't available".
Louth Council previously said it intends to refurbish and reopen the unofficial halting site at Woodland Park.
