A 20-year-old man has suffered serious head injuries in an assault in Lucan, County Dublin last night.

Gardaí said the man is being treated for his injures at Beaumont Hospital.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information, particularly anyone who was in the vicinity of Ballyowen Lane or Ballyowen Shopping Centre between 11pm and midnight on the 28th December to contact them.

They are also appealing for anyone who may have dash-cam footage and may have been in the area to contact them.

An incident room has been set up at Lucan Garda Station.
