A young girl has lost her life following a crash in County Down this evening.

The girl was struck by a car in Bangor at about 5pm and passed away shortly afterwards.

The PSNI has launched an investigation into her death and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police have spoken with the driver of the car and that person is helping them with their enquiries.
