Investigations are underway after a woman's body was found at a hotel in Galway.
Gardaí at Salthill were alerted on Monday afternoon.
The discovery was made in a bedroom at the Connemara Lake Hotel at around 11.30am.
The body of the woman, aged 64, was removed from the hotel to University Hospital Galway.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out on Tuesday.
The results of the examination will determine the course of the investigation.
The scene is being preserved awaiting an examination by gardaí and representatives of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
In a statement, the hotel confirms a guest "tragically passed away" over the weekend.
The hotel is closed until further notice while an investigation takes place.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased, their family and friends", it adds.
