A woman using a wheelchair has died after entering the water at Dun Laoghaire Pier in Dublin.

It is believed the woman, aged in her 50s, entered the water at the East Pier yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí were called to the scene alongside the Coast Guard and RNLI.

Her body was recovered from the water at 2:30pm.

Her remains have been removed to the mortuary at Loughlinstown where a post-mortem will take place.

A file will now be prepared for the Coroners Court.
