A woman in her 80s has been hospitalised for serious injuries after being hit by a tractor in Clonmel, Co Tipperary. 

Gardaí said the hit-and-run happened around 3.30pm at Sean Kelly Square, Carrick on Suir. 

The woman was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where she is being treated for serious injuries. 

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the incident to come forward. 

They are particularly interested in anyone with dash-cam footage who was in the area at the time.
