A 22-year-old woman is due to appear at a special sitting of Ennis District Court this morning, in connection with a stabbing incident, which took place over the weekend.
A 23 year old woman was stabbed in the head, neck and upper body in the grounds of a primary school in the Station Road/Friar's Walk area of Ennis in Co. Clare around 5 o'clock on Saturday evening.
She remains in a serious but stable condition in intensive care in hospital, after having surgery following the attack.
Gardaí arrested a 22 year old woman in a nearby shopping centre, shortly after the incident.
She's due to appear at a special sitting of Ennis District Court at 10.00 o'clock this morning, charged in relation to the stabbing.
Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses to the attack to contact them.
The woman due to appear in court is a settled member of the Travelling community, while the woman who sustained the multiple injuries is a member of the settled community.
It is understood that the two women are well known to each other and were drinking together on Saturday before going to the grounds of the Holy Family primary school in Ennis.
