A woman in her 70s has died in a crash involving a car and truck in County Clare.

Gardaí said it happened on the N68 Kilrush to Ennis road at around 4pm.

The woman was the driver of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a technical examination.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information – particularly drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage – to come forward.
