Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a woman died in a crash between a car and truck in Co Kerry.

It happened at Woodford, approximately 2kms from Listowel, shortly after 3.00pm on Monday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene.

A woman aged in her 50s, the driver and only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the truck was uninjured.

The road has been closed and traffic diversions are in place.

Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the crash site.

The woman was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
