The man was taken to Cavan General Hospital with serious head injuries. He was pronounced dead in hospital on December 23rd.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information on the crash to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who travelling between Kells in County Meath and Virginia in County Cavan between 3pm and 4:30pm on the day of the crash and may have dash-cam footage.

Investigators are anxious to speak to people who were travelling northbound towards Virginia in a blue Skoda and may have witnessed the crash.
