The National Lottery says its 'Winning Streak' TV game show will not be returning this autumn due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

It says it does not currently have a date for its return.

Scratch cards to appear on the show, which were due to go on sale in August, will also not go on sale until further notice.

Both the National Lottery and RTÉ say they are "disappointed" to postpone the show.

They say it is necessary given the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19 in producing the programme, while managing social distancing in studio.

They add that it "provides too much risk to players, their families - who travel from all over the country to support the player - and the staff ".

On the last 'Winning Streak' on March 7th, five players were drawn to appear on the next episode.

However Government restrictions meant this could not go ahead.

The National Lottery says the players were contacted, and two game shows will take place.

One for those drawn in the catch-all draw that had a three-star entry, and another for those drawn for the postponed show on March 21st.

Each player will get the opportunity to play the full suite of games with the same prizes, while ensuring all social distancing and health and safety guidelines are followed.

This event will not be broadcast and will be behind closed doors.

A date for the event will be decided in the coming weeks.
