The Irish entry for this year's Eurovision Song Contest will be decided by public vote tonight, as the five acts take to the Late Late Show stage and battle it out for a chance to belt it out in Vienna on May 23rd.

With seven wins, Ireland remains the most successful country to have competed in the competition, though we have failed to come close to claiming back the title and treating Europe (and now Australia) to a night of vote counting and toe-tapping in Ireland since 1997.

But when we did win, we did it with style. So what are the favourite songs of the Friday Panel on The Right Hook?

  • George Hook - Niamh Kavanagh, In Your Eyes, ESC 1992

George says:"Niamh Kavanagh is a jazz singer and I love jazz."

  • Shane Coleman - Johnny Logan, Hold me Now, ESC 1987

Shane says: "George pipped me to the post in picking 'In your eyes', which is probably the best quality Irish Eurovision winner, but I also have a real soft spot for Johnny Logan's 'Hold me now'. It probably doesn't provoke the same nostalgia as his first win, but I think it's a better song."

  • Dave McIntyre - Johnny Logan, What's Another Year, ESC 1980

Dave says: "A timeless tune and the first one I can remember. Johnny Logan gets no credit in this country and I don’t think he is treated well enough here."

  • Ciara Kelly - Linda Martin, Why me?, ESC 1992

Ciara says: "I wasn’t left with a lot of choice and I wasn’t picking Dana or the Rock ‘n’ Roll kKds so I went for a Johnny Logan hat trick."
