A Co Wexford man got the surprise of his life when he discovered that a Lotto ticket that had been in his wallet for a month was worth €350,000.

The lucky winner, who wants to remain anonymous, bought a €6 Lotto ticket with Plus on Saturday November 29th in Centra on the Errigal Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12.

He won the top prize in the Lotto Plus 1 draw that evening, worth €350,000 - but was oblivious to his good fortune for another full month.

"I just found out yesterday," he said as he celebrated his win with a glass of champagne this morning.

"I scanned the ticket in the shop and it said to contact the National Lottery, so I thought there must be a problem with the barcode or something. Then I checked it on the website later. I couldn't believe it," he added.

The winner is going to take some time to get used to the news, before planning how he will spend his winnings.

Next in to National Lottery offices was a Dublin man who struck it lucky on Christmas Eve, and won another Lotto Plus 1 top prize of €350,000.

He bought a ticket in Spar at the Maple Centre, Navan Road in Dublin 7 on Christmas Eve - and found out the good news on St Stephen's Day.
