Today
Frosty and icy start this morning with local fog patches.
The frost, ice and any fog will clear gradually during the morning to give a cold, bright, sunny day in many areas, but there will be scattered showers mostly in coastal counties of the north and west, some wintry on higher ground, and a few showers also possible on parts of the east coast.
Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 or possibly 8 degrees Celsius in moderate northerly breezes, fresh and gusty near some coasts.
Tonight
Cold tonight with clear periods, dry in many areas, but there will be scattered showers mostly in coastal areas and these may extend further inland later in the night and some will be wintry.
Overnight lows of -3 to +2 degrees Celsius with frost and icy stretches on untreated surfaces and possibly a little fog also.
