Wayne Dundon and Nathan Killeen have lost their appeals against their convictions for the murder of innocent businessman Roy Collins in Limerick.

Dundon of Lenihan Avenue in Prospect ordered the shooting from prison, while Killeen of Hyde Road in Prospect was the gunman’s driver.

On April 9th 2009, Roy Collins, who was with two kids and a fiancé, was shot at his arcade at Roxboro Shopping Centre in Limerick.

It’s believed his father Steve was the intended target for his role in securing a previous prosecution against Wayne Dundon.

The gunman was found guilty of murder one year later and Wayne Dundon and Nathan Killeen were convicted for their roles in July 2014.

The main focus of their appeals was on the evidence of some of their associates, particularly Dundon’s cousin Anthony ‘Noddy’ McCarthy who claimed Dundon told him he ordered the hit from prison.

The defence claimed there was clear evidence of collusion between McCarthy and other witnesses, but the Court of Appeal found the trial judges were alive to that possibility and is satisfied they were free to consider his evidence on its merits.

Wayne Dundon was brought to court under armed guard, but both he and Mr. Killeen refused to come into the courtroom to hear today’s judgement.
