An Iowa protester has been arrested after allegedly throwing tomatoes at the Republican nomination frontrunner Donald Trump at a rally in Iowa City ahead of February 1st’s caucus, the first vote in the race to select the candidates contesting November’s election.
Andrew Joseph Alemao, 28, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly launching the fruit at Trump, who was addressing the crowd at the time, an Iowa TV news service reports.

Alemao was taken into custody by agents of the Secret Service, as well as members of the University of Iowa Police Department, after he was seen throwing two tomatoes at Trump, missing the candidate both times.
Trump was speaking on Tuesday night to a packed crowd at the UI Field House, though his speech was interrupted a number of times by loud jeers from protesters, including cries of “Heil, Trumpler!”

If the case goes to trial, the charge of disorderly conduct is punishable by a fine of up to $625 (€570) or a 30-day sentence in prison.
