John Oliver takes a look at the ongoing refugee crisis, and the media's portrayal of those who are going to Europe in search of a better life.

In his monologue during his weekly show on HBO, Oliver turned his attention to the crisis, examining the way that European countries have reacted to the requests for asylum, the difficulties that the refugees are facing, and how the media have been twisting and distorting the story. 

The tale of one girl who has made the dangerous journey from Syria, Noujaine Moustaffa, was particularly poignant for Oliver, as he revealed how she taught herself English through watching popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, and how she wanted to be an astronaut. 

Thanks to his showbiz contacts, Oliver was able to get some of the actors from the show together to shoot one special scene for her, with her favourite characters.
