Tomorrow morning sees a fare increase for customers of Irish Rail, along with increases on buses and the LUAS. As the latest in a series of price hikes in recent years it has been met with a mix of exasperation and bemusement by commuters - and questions, lots of questions.

Why now? Is this just one in a series we can expect over the next year? And are we getting anything extra for our money?

Newstalk spoke with Barry Kenny, Head of Communications with Irish Rail, and put five key questions to him about the fare increases
