Met Eireann is predicting "wall-to-wall sunshine" this weekend that will continue into the early part of next week.

While today and early Friday will be a little mixed the good weather is expected in almost all parts of the country from tomorrow evening.

Friday will be a pleasant and dry day almost everywhere. Cloud will vary, but good spells of warm sunshine especially across the midlands south and east. There will be highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees and warmest in the east.

The weather service says it will become even warmer with temperatures on average rising to between the low to mid 20s and even higher into next week.

Saturday will see most areas dry day with afternoon temperatures of between 20 and 23 degrees over much of Munster, Leinster, the midlands and east Ulster.

While on Sunday it is set to be dry across most - if not all - of the country with temperatures ranging from 20 to 24 degrees.

Met Eireann says they expect the the very warm and settled spell to hold well into next week and that sunnier skies are likely to dominate through the week ahead.

Meteorologist Vincent O'Shea says it is perfect beach weather. He spoke to Lunchtime here on Newstalk.
