A video uploaded to YouTube has captured a motorist speeding the wrong way down the busy N18 dual-carriageway in Co Clare.

The dashcam video shows a silver Mercedes driving north on the southbound side of the N18 near Bunratty in County Clare last Wednesday.

Another motorist, going by the YouTube username 'Not fit state to play', has uploaded a dashcam recording to the video sharing site showing the car travelling at speed towards them.

The alarm was raised at around 9.30am when Gardaí received calls from motorists reporting the vehicle travelling the wrong way along the N18 Limerick to Galway road near Bunratty. The car was reported to have been driving at speed and erratically changing between lanes.

The Clare Herald reports that three vehicles were damaged but their occupants were not serious injured after trying to avoid the speeding Mercedes.

Both the Clare Herald and The Irish Examiner are reporting that the driver was arrested shortly after the incident.
