While holidaying in Hawaii, a round of golf got President Barack Obama into a spot of bother, after it emerged a wedding service had to be relocated to allow the US leader to play through. Now a video of him calling to apologise to the couple is going viral online.

“Listen. Congratulations on your wedding. I feel terrible. Nobody told us,” Mr Obama tells Army Captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr as they stood at the altar.

“If they had just mentioned that they were going to have a wedding on the 16th hole, we would have skipped the 16th hole,” he added. “I hope the wedding went OK anyway.”

The White House has said Obama was not aware that his game would affect the wedding.

“Sorry for the change of plans. But sounds like you guys are gonna have a great wedding and at least you will have a good story to tell,” Mr Obama said before ending the call.
