The Transport Minister Leo Varadkar says Irish emigrants should be given a vote in General and Presidential elections.
In an interview in today's Sunday Independent, Minister Varadkar said it would bring Ireland 'closer to the diaspora'.
He said the President should be a representative of Irish people around the world - and allowing emigrants to have their say in presidential elections would embody that spirit.
