The High Court has granted an urgent hearing to Bord na Mona this Friday over a licensing dispute.

The home-heating supplier claims a company InfernEco is in the process of marketing its firelighting technology in the UK despite an exclusive licensing agreement with Bord na Mona.

Lawyers for Bord na Mona have told the High Court they urgently need to restrain InfernEco from trying to secure the winter market in the UK.

The supplier claims to have been granted an exclusive license for firelighting products Fireformer and Fire Maker.

Barrister Francis Kieran says the dispute has escalated in recent days as InfernEco has confirmed its written to clients of Bord na Mona directing them not to distribute the products on the ground that Bord na Mona is not the authorised distributor.

He claims the company is threatening to write again to companies like Tesco advising that the firelighters have to be removed from the shelves.

Ms. Justice Mary Irvine is satisfied the case is urgent and has scheduled a hearing for Friday.
