Manchester Police say an earlier incident has been deemed safe and a cordon lifted.
Police and the army bomb disposal team were called to the Hulme area of the city, near the University of Manchester, just after 10.30am.
Several roads were closed and officers assessed the situation.
It is believed this was due to a suspicious package in Limby Street.
Originally police said they were going to a college in Trafford, but later corrected the location.
UPDATE - This incident has now been deemed safe and the cordon has been removed. Apologies for any confusion. pic.twitter.com/xdE9jqODeN
