Two men are recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which happened on Blessington Street at around 1.00am on Sunday morning.

Two men, aged 36 and 38, were approached by another man who struck up a conversation with them.

He then attacked the two men, who received what are believed to be stab wounds to their abdomens.

Gardaí say the attacker then fled the scene.

The injured were treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

Their injuries are described as non life-threatening.

A scene has been preserved on Blessington Street and investigations are on-going.
