Two men have been arrested in Kildare after cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €70,000 was seized.

It was part of an intelligence-led operation on Sunday.

Gardaí attached to the Naas drugs unit were assisted by regular units as they searched a plot of land in Kilmeague on foot of a search warrant.

During the course of the search the cannabis herb was seized.

Two men - aged 28 and 33 - were arrested at the scene.

They are both being held at Naas Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
