A young man and a woman have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery on a shop in Blanchardstown in Dublin late last night.
The raid happened at around 11.40pm when a man armed with a gun entered the shop on the Main Street. He threatened staff before making his getaway with a sum of money.
No shots were fired and no one was injured. A man in his late teens was arrested a short time later and a sum of money was seized.
A woman was also detained at 2am during a follow-up search at a house in Briarswood in Blanchardstown. An imitation gun was recovered from here. She is being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
While both are being held at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
