Two teenagers have been arrested after a garda was seriously injured when a patrol car was rammed in Swords in Co. Dublin overnight.
It happened in the Cian Lea estate in the early hours of this morning.
At around 3:30am this morning gardai in Swords were called to the Cian Lea estate following reports of a car acting suspiciously. When they arrived, the white Nissan Micra drove directly at the garda car, ramming it and injuring an officer.
The garda, who is in her 20s, received a serious head wound and was taken to Beaumont Hospital where she is awaiting surgery. The car was later found near Talbot Hall by Gardai who were responding to reports of burglaries.
Gardai including the Air Support Unit searched the area and two males in their late teens were arrested and taken to Coolock Garda Station.
They are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
