Roger Stone, a Trump ally and long-time political operative, has been arrested in the US.
He's been charged in connection with the ongoing probe by special counsel Robert Mueller into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
US media reports he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
In court filings, Mr Stone is accused of attempting to persuade "a witness to provide false testimony to and withhold pertinent information from the investigations", as well as providing false testimony to a congressional committee.
According to the court documents, Mr Stone is accused of speaking with senior Trump campaign officials about information an organisation might have had "that would be damaging to the [Hillary] Clinton campaign".
Mr Stone is alleged to have made false statements about his interactions regarding the organisation, and is also accused of falsely denying "possessing records that contained evidence of these interactions."
He now faces seven charges related to obstruction of proceeding, witness tampering and false statements.
Mr Stone is due to appear in court later on Friday.
The 66-year-old - who has worked as a political lobbyist for decades, and has been involved in high-profile campaigns such as the Nixon campaign in 1972 - was involved in the early stages of the Trump campaign, although officially left in summer 2015.
He's remained an outspoken supporter of the US president since Trump's election victory.
Mr Stone has repeatedly faced questions over whether he was in communication with Wikileaks over leaked documents from the Clinton campaign.
