A top Syrian rebel leader is believed to have been killed following an airstrike on a suburb of the capital city Damascus.
Rebels say that Zahran Alloush (44) - the head of the Jaysh al-Islam group - died when a strike hit his organisation's headquarters in eastern suburb of the city.
A number of other prominent figures in the group, including the deputy leader, are believed to have also been killed.
The rebel group controls the Eastern Ghouta rural area. BBC reports that Jaysh al-Islam has been identified as a terrorist group by Russia, a key ally of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
Separately, Russia has released new pictures of airstrikes it has carried out across Syria.
The defence ministry says it targeted sites in Aleppo and Damascus.
They claim the attacks were carried out on oil transport convoys and production facilities run by Islamic State - as well as 'other targets'.
Amnesty International has accused Russia of killing hundreds of civilians in raids on Syria using "cluster munitions and unguided bombs."
