Frost and ice in northern areas soon clearing. The cloud and rain elsewhere will continue spreading northwards this morning, preceded by some sleet or snow on higher ground. The rain will be heavy in many areas.
Cold over Ulster with highs of just 4 to 6 C., with fresh southeasterly winds making it feel colder. But milder over the southern half of the country by mid afternoon, with highs of 8 to 12 C. Becoming windy later also, with southwest winds increasing fresh to strong.

Misty and mostly cloudy tonight. The rain will be fairly widespread and locally heavy too, especially so over Munster and Leinster.
Lowest temperatures 6 to 11 C. Windy along the south and southeast coasts , but winds easing gradually elsewhere.
