Escaped Limerick prisoner updates his Facebook page on the run

A Limerick man who has been on the run since last Wednesday has been updating his Facebook page.

Jason Frayne (22), from Limerick city, absconded from Ennis District Court on Wednesday.

A day later, he posted a new picture of himself on Facebook with the comment, "Who else is out today haha."

A politician in the British Labour Party has hit out after she was asked about her weight in a newspaper interview.

The political editor at The Daily Mail, Simon Walters, asked Liz Kendall about her hopes for leading the party - while also delving into some more personal issues.

The paper wrote: "She looks the same weight as the Duchess (of Cambridge) - about 8st - though when I ask she slaps me down with a raucous 'f*** off!', adding quickly: 'Don't print that.'"

Laws allowing unpaid water bills to be deducted from wages and welfare payments have been passed by the Seanad.

The Civil Debt Bill was passed in a vote this evening by 20 votes to 13 and now goes to Aras an Úachtaráin to be signed into law this weekend.

The bill can apply to any debts between €500 and €4,000 - including utility bills and debts to small businesses or sole traders. The court-based measures provide for attachment of earnings or deduction from some social welfare payments where the debtor has the capacity to repay the money owed.
