An investigation has been launched after the body of a homeless man was found in Tipperary.
The man was aged in his early 60s and originally from Co Louth.
He was found slumped on a bench in Kenyon Street, Nenagh yesterday evening.
Gardaí have ruled out foul play, and family members have been contacted. He had been living in Nenagh for several weeks.
It is understood he had not made contact with local homeless services, but businesses in the town had been providing him with food.
The Garda Ombudsman has also been contacted, as officers had earlier given him a lift into Nenagh.
His body was transferred to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem was due to take place.
GSOC says the case was referred to it "as is routine procedure" by the gardaí because there had been contact between gardaí and the man before he died.
Investigators travelled to Nenagh this morning.
Speaking to Tipp FM, these locals described his death as upsetting.
