One candidate running in the upcoming general election is taking his campaign online - to a dating app.

Green Party candidate for Tipperary, Rob O'Donnell, has set up a Tinder profile in his hope of getting votes.

In a tweet, the 23-year-old said: "Canvassing in rural Ireland just got a bit more interesting..."

He also included screenshots of his profile on the app.

It includes quotes from several high profile 'people', like Greta Thunberg and President Michael D Higgins.

"But seriously, get out and vote", Rob says.

Rob, who works with NGOs and community groups, says he is "frustrated with the slowness to change, and feel too many of our TDs are playing political games only for personal gain.

"I want to represent Tipperary and make real, positive change for our communities."

The student organiser from Pallasgreen says he wants "a real plan for rural regeneration", and a health system that guarantees the same quality service to all patients.

He also wants to make "proper support" for young people and parents part of his campaign, adding that "our towns in particular have been devastated by suicide."
