Three people have been found dead after a ‘major incident’ in Nottingham in the UK.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the incident and remains in custody.

Police said two people were found dead in the street on Ilkeston Road just outside the city centre shortly after 4am.

Officers were then called to a street just over 1.5km away where a person driving a van had attempted to run over three people in what police believe is a connected incident.

They are now being treated for their injuries in hospital.

A third man was then found dead in nearby Magdala Road.

Chief Constable Kate Meynell said police believe the incidents were linked.

“This is a horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people,” she said.

“This investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened.

“We ask the public to be patient while inquiries continue. At this time, a number of roads in the city will remain closed as this investigation progresses.”

Officers and other emergency services remain at several locations and a number of roads in the city remain cordoned off.
