Three people are in a serious condition after their car crashed into a house in County Carlow overnight.

Gardaí said it happened at the cross of the Rathoe Road and Castlemore roads in Tullow in the early hours of this morning.

The car left the road and hit the corner of a house at around 2am.

Three people were in the car at the time. They have been taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny where they are in a serious condition.

The road was closed for a technical examination but has since reopened.
