Three men have been charged with the murder of an Irish teenager in Australia.
19-year-old Cian English from County Carlow died after he fell from an apartment balcony in Queensland on Saturday.
Police believe he was trying to flee from three men who had robbed him at knife-point when he fell from the fourth floor.
His body was found outside an apartment complex on View Avenue in Surfer's Paradise by a passer-by at around 3.15am on Saturday morning.
Three suspects were later arrested and charged with one count of murder and armed robbery.
Jason Ryan Knowles, 22, Hayden Paul Kratzmann, 20, and Lachlan Paul Soper-Lagas, 18, were not required to appear in court today and have been remanded in custody.
Cian’s family had moved to Australia around five years ago.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and stands ready to provide consular assistance if needed.
